In 2007 the Safadi Center opened its doors in the heart of Tripoli, across from the Rachid Karame International Fair and overlooking the Mediterranean. Across 8,400 square meters of halls, studios and stages, it has welcomed guests from every background ever since.
It was built on a simple idea: that a city with this much history deserves a place where its culture is made, not just remembered. Nineteen years on, the building is busy six days a week — a choir rehearsing upstairs, a kiln cooling in the workshop, a film club arguing in the foyer.
Nothing here is members-only. The Center is deliberately neutral ground: no single community owns it, and everyone is expected in it.
